Android 4.4 Deprecation
Starting January 1, 2025, we will switch our support for Android 4.4 devices exclusively to maintenance mode. This decision is due to the fact that Android 4.4 is no longer supported by the tools used for ongoing development, and the Android industry is moving towards prioritizing Android 5 and newer versions. This shift allows us to focus on supporting newer devices and technologies.
Devices running Android 4.4 will remain compatible with signageOS, and the signageOS CoreApp for Android 4.4 will continue to receive patches and security updates. However, starting January 1, 2025, these devices will no longer receive new features. Furthermore, support for patches and security updates will cease one year later, on January 1, 2026.
